A Private Boat Tour I Will Never Forget
Being a boat guide in Koh Rong Sanloem, I have joined many tours — but this one was truly special.
On this unforgettable day, I guided two wonderful girls from France, Soukhayna and Vaniela, on their Premium Island Adventure. Along with us was our experienced boat driver, Pu Khay.
From snorkeling to fishing, sunset dining, and magical plankton swimming — this private boat tour became one of the most memorable experiences I’ve ever had as a guide.
🤿 Snorkeling in Crystal Clear Water
We started the adventure with snorkeling.
The water was clear, calm, and full of colorful marine life. Coral reefs, tropical fish, and sunlight dancing under the sea made it feel like another world.
But what truly surprised me was this:
One of the girls decided to swim without a life jacket.
And not just for a few minutes.
She swam confidently for almost one hour, exploring the colorful underwater world without any floating support.
Even me — someone who lives on the island — sometimes need a life jacket or short break when I get tired. But she kept swimming peacefully, enjoying every moment.
I was truly impressed.
🎣 Fishing Adventure & Big Waves Challenge
After snorkeling, we moved to the fishing area.
However, the sea became rough. Big waves started coming, and the boat was shaking more than usual.
One of the girls began feeling seasick and asked me for medicine. Unfortunately, I didn’t have any with me.
I quickly spoke with Pu Khay, our boat driver, and asked him to find a calmer fishing spot.
Thankfully, he navigated us to a more peaceful area with fewer waves.
And it worked.
She started feeling better, and the fun returned.
Soon, we were laughing again — catching fish one by one.
🔥 Fresh Fish Cooked on the Boat
One of the best parts of a private boat tour is enjoying what you catch.
Pu Khay helped cook the fresh fish right there for us. The smell of grilled fish mixed with the sea breeze was incredible.
We were eating, fishing, and enjoying the open ocean — a simple but perfect moment.

As the afternoon turned into evening, the sky began changing colors.
Orange. Pink. Purple.
The sunset over Koh Rong Sanloem is always beautiful, but this one felt different.
We were sitting together on the boat, eating fresh fish, watching the sun slowly disappear behind the horizon.
It was peaceful. It was magical. It was unforgettable.

After the sky became dark, we moved toward the plankton zone.
And then the magic began.
Imagine Doctor Strange opening portals in the water — glowing, sparkling, magical energy everywhere.
That’s what it looked like.
As we jumped into the dark ocean, millions of bioluminescent plankton lit up with every movement.
The water sparkled around us like stars in the night sky.
Soukhayna and Vaniela absolutely loved it. They couldn’t stop smiling.
And honestly, even as a local guide, moments like this still amaze me.
